Holly B. Trent serves as Associate University Counsel for Health Affairs and Senior Assistant Attorney General at the University of Virginia. As Associate University Counsel for Health Affairs, Ms. Trent is responsible for advising UVA Health, including UVA Medical Center, School of Medicine and School of Nursing, on a broad range of legal matters such as regulatory compliance, corporate transactions, health care privacy law, contract negotiation, corporate governance and nonprofit issues. She has responsibility for a broad range of legal matters including assisting with credentialing and privileging of physicians and APPs, peer review matters and investigations, supporting the office of Graduate Medical Education and the Ethics Committee, and providing legal advice on the application of Medical Center policies and on operational issues.
Prior to joining the Office of University Counsel, Ms. Trent served as Chief Legal Officer for Centra Health in Lynchburg, Virginia. Ms. Trent began her legal career in private practice representing and advising clients on health care, corporate and labor and employment matters.
Ms. Trent received her B.A. in Government magna cum laude from Sweet Briar College and her J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law.
